We invite you to join us in Velenje on May 7th and 8th for two days full of inspiring workshops, captivating performances, immersive VR experiences and contemporary dance that brings forgotten local stories to life.
The event activities will begin on Wednesday, May 7, at 6 PM at Galerija Velenje (Titov trg 5) with a round table discussion titled “The Importance of Dance for Improving the Quality of Life of Individuals and Society.” The evening will also feature the opening of a photo exhibition by Ksenija Mikor, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Balkan DANCE Project, and a dance performance by Katarina Bućić from the Institut za umetničku igru, Belgrade.
On the following day, Thursday, May 8, at 10 AM, a press conference will be held in the lobby of the Dom kulture Velenje (Titov trg 4). The conference will present the full scope of the project, including workshops, performances, and virtual reality experiences. Immediately after the press conference, at 12 PM, the dance performance Plenir will be staged. The piece delves into the collective memory of Slovenia’s Primorska region, evoking the untold stories of women—peddlers, milkmaids, and others—who shaped its cultural identity. The performance will feature Mojca Majcen, Luka Ostrež, Urša Rupnik, Branko Mitrović, and Igor Sviderski, with choreography by Daša Grgič.
